Welcome to TinyMe
“TinyMe Rocks! I love it.”
~Texstar, head developer of PCLinuxOS
Hello and welcome to the TinyMe project! TinyMe is a remaster of PCLinuxOS which comes packaged in a miniscule 200MB ISO. We do this for those of you who have old computers, like to mess around with small/fast systems, or want to program for a lightweight environment. TinyMe is comparable to distributions like Puppy1), AntiX, and DSL. If you like small distributions of Linux, give TinyMe a try.
While trying to retain a small, lightweight platform, TinyMe also strives to bring you the basic tools for everyday needs. When you download TinyMe 2008.0, you receive the tools to:
- Write documents in AbiWord, a Word Processor 2)
- Browse the web with Opera
- Listen to music in Audacious, a WinAmp look-alike
- View photos and download photos off your camera with GThumb
- Rip CDs in Asunder
- Customize your system and desktop through easy-to use Control Centers
- Get your E-Mail with Sylpheed
- View PDFs with ePDFView
- Edit text files or write a program with the SciTE text editor
- and even play a couple of small games 3).
1)
In fact, Grafburn by Nathan Fisher, the CD burning program for Puppy Linux and Grafpup, has been ported to TinyMe.
2)
Compatible with MS Word .doc and OpenOffice.org .odt

Warning: Susan Linton reports “there was one major bug I really need to report. There is an icon on the desktop called Gweled that when clicked opens an app that sucks all the user's time up causing reduced productivity. I must have lost a couple hours fiddling with it. I'm sure that was an oversight on the developers part including such a thing.”
